Bob
Patin has been playing the piano since he was five years
old. From the age of 14, he began playing clubs in South
Louisiana; he got a music degree in 1978 and studied for
his Master's in jazz studies at North Texas State University
in Denton, Texas. In 1981 he moved to Nashville, where he
lives with his son Steven.
For
the next nine years, Bob traveled on the road with various
artists, most notably The Everly Brothers, Crystal Gayle,
Jerry Reed, and Ray Price. He quit the road in 1990 to stay
home and make his living as a studio musician. He has played
on thousands of recording sessions, including albums by
Alabama, Sawyer Brown, Mel Tillis, Jerry Reed, Pam Tillis,
Crystal Gayle, and many others. |
Bob
has played for 4 Presidents: Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, George
Bush, and Ronald Reagan, and has traveled worldwide as a touring
musician.
The list of artists for whom he has played includes almost every big name in country music, and many from
other genres as well. He has played concerts on 4 continents and
continues to tour from time to time.
In
addition to making his living as a studio musician, Bob owns and
runs Longterm Solutions, a computer consulting and hosting company. Longterm Solutions
hosts websites for over 150 clients worldwide, and provides other
Internet-related services as well; Bob also writes custom software
for clients, including many programs designed for the music business.

TV Music

- Another World
- Guiding Light
- As the World Turns
- Riviera (a European show)
- Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous
Gear
After years of having a cartage company haul around a double-wide 24-space rack, several keyboards, a Leslie, a vintage Wurlitzer, and other gear, Bob has gone to a keyboard rig that uses plugins accessed in his laptop. Using a select group of plugins and a MIDI keyboard, he is able to provide any sound requested by a producer, without the cost of cartage and a large hardware setup.
Plugins are accessed on an Apple MacBook Pro laptop running Rax, a plugin player for the Mac. Plugins include Ivory, B4 II, Reason, MOTU Mach Five, Native Instruments Elektrik Piano, Omnisphere, Atmosphere, MOTU Electric Keys, and MOTU Symphonic Instrument. Bob's digital interface is the RME Fireface 800.
